LA CROSSE – Marshfield High School graduate, Rachel Schalow, is among four former student-athletes that will be inducted into the Viterbo University Athletics Wall of Fame on Feb. 2.

Schalow is a 2009 MHS graduate and a former member of the Viterbo women’s bowling team. She is the first Viterbo bowler to be inducted since the start of the program.

“It is a great honor to be the first bowler, plus female bowler, inducted into Viterbo’s Wall of Fame,” Schalow said. “This is something I will cherish forever and makes me feel that I was a strong asset to Viterbo’s bowling program.”

Schalow was named to the MCC First-Team three seasons and earned the conference’s Bowler of the Year award for 2010-11. She qualified for the United States Bowling Congress Singles Championship her junior year.

During her senior year, she helped lead Viterbo bowling to their first conference championship, by averaging 194.6 pins per game. She also earned the conference individual title in the championship.

During her 2009-13 college career, Schalow grabbed seven top-five finishes and ended her career with the highest average in program history – at 183.8.

“My wings rose in college bowling, each year my confidence level grew, and I could help take the Vhawks further and further winning more titles,” stated Schalow. “Nothing is better than having your teammates in the back huddled by the ball return watching you to hear that strike, and you turn around to cheering. It would give me so much momentum that I’d want to win not for myself but for the team.

“One thing about college bowling is that you never forget who you bowled against or bowled with – it’s one great big family.”

Schalow joins Jordan Blaken, women’s volleyball, 2009-2012; Blake Shepherd, baseball, 2009-2013; and Danielle Templin, women’s basketball, 2009-2013, for the induction.

A ceremony will take place on Viterbo’s Homecoming Day – Feb. 2 – in the Fine Arts Center lobby at 10 a.m.
