John See Obituary

John A. See, 87, Marshfield, Passed away peacefully on New Year’s Day 2019 at House of the Dove, Marshfield.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, with Rev. Samuel Martin officiating. Private entombment will take place in Hillside Cemetery Mausoleum. The visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday and from 10:00 am on Tuesday until service time at Rembs Funeral Home.

John was born in Marshfield, to the late Philip and Josephine (Roecklein) See on New Year’s Eve in 1931 and he grew up on the family farm.
He resided in Milwaukee from 1951 to 2003 where he was employed by Eaton Cutler-Hammer for 38 years and was past president of Cutler-Hammer Retirees. In spring of 2003 he moved back to Marshfield where he became an active member and officer of the Marshfield Eagles Club. John was an enthusiastic boater and loved spending time on Lake Michigan whether sailing, cruising, racing or just relaxing on his boat with family and friends. He was a life time member of the South Shore Yacht Club. Other hobbies included golfing, fishing, and playing Sheepshead but his passion was his lawn. He always had the greenest lawn in the neighborhood. John’s greatest joys were his grandchildren. 


He is survived by his daughter, Joellen Gustafson (Bill) and grandchildren, Tristan John Young and Allison Rose Young (Bailey). He is also survived by his sisters, Trudy Grippentrog and Cassie Fennig (Ted), nieces and nephews, Pat McGinley’s family and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Justine, his brother, Philip See Jr., his twin sister Joanne Ertl, his sisters, Mary Jo Dix, Paunny See Brandt, and Barbara See, and close friend, Pat McGinley. 


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Foundation of SCH – Hospice, 1000 W. 11th Street, Marshfield, WI 54449 or St. Vincent de Paul, 169 North Central Avenue, Marshfield, WI 54449.
