MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield man accused of shooting and injuring another man has entered an innocent plea to a pair of felony charges.
William Crowley, 37, on Dec. 27 entered the plea in a Wood County courtroom, to charges of injury by negligent use of a weapon or explosive and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Charges stem from a Dec. 15 incident in which Crowley is accused of shooting a 31-year-old man in the abdomen after a night of drinking in a home. The victim was later found at a nearby nightclub and was treated for the injuries and released.
Crowley was taken into custody sometime later. He told police he had been drinking but didn’t feel drunk at the time of the incident, adding that he was showing the man the handgun when he told him to fire a round into the couch.
The gun was later found in the yard of a home a few blocks away.
Crowley is due back in court on March 14 for a pre-trial hearing.
