Marshfield Veterans Day

By Hub City Times staff

MARSHFIELD – Veterans Day observances were held across the country Nov. 11, including the city of Marshfield. The annual ceremony took place at Veterans Park behind City Hall Plaza and is a compilation of several veterans organizations.

Vietnam veteran and Alderman Mike Feirer has gone to the ceremony every year since he returned from active duty near Hanoi.

Feirer has been active in the American Legion since his return from Vietnam, and this year marks a special milestone for Marshfield’s Post 54.

“We started our organization in 1919, right after World War I, and we are one of the century posts,” he said. “We are number 54 in the state, so there were 53 before us that applied for a charter. Our charter was given to us on Aug. 20 of 1919, and we’ve been in the business since then.”
