MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Tigers remain unbeaten through 10 games of the current high school football season and won their Division 2 level one playoff contest with Ashwaubenon Oct. 19 at Beell Stadium 34-14.

The Tigers blew the game wide open in the opening quarter, scoring three times on three touchdown passes by quarterback Ryan Krueger. He connected with Preston Wagner on scoring strikes of 11 and 51 yards, and then hit Isaac Meverden on an 18-yard TD connection. Successful two-point conversions followed each of those touchdowns, and Marshfield grabbed an early 24-0 lead after one quarter.

After a scoreless second quarter, Marshfield picked up the scoring again in the third. Mason Coffren hit a 37-yard field goal, followed by a 13-yard TD run by Brant Bohman on a fourth-and-one play. The Jaguars put up two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. The Tigers allowed 324 yards but just two late scores. Meanwhile, the Tigers gained only 266 yards offensively, in their first playoff win in six years.

Krueger completed 12 of 19 passes for 169 yards and three scores. Wagner caught two passes for 62 yards. Bohman carried the ball 12 times for 37 yards. Isaiah Baierl had six carries for 31 yards. Caden Pearce rushed four times for 28 yards.

The No. 1 Tigers will host No. 4 Menasha Oct. 26 at Beell Stadium at 7 p.m.
