MARSHFIELD – On Oct. 27, National Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) will coordinate a prescription drug takeback event throughout Wisconsin. Takeback events provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescriptions drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.

In an effort to limit prescription drug abuse, local law enforcement in collaboration with Marshfield Clinic Health System, Marshfield Area Coalition for Youth (MACY), Aspirus Riverview Hospital, Groundwater Guardian, Healthy People Wood County, Wood County Health Department and Wood County UW-Extension are participating in this event Oct. 27, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the following locations in Wood County: Copps, Wisconsin Rapids; Pittsville Police Department; Shopko, Marshfield; and the Rome Police Department. The takeback will also be held 9 a.m. – noon at the Nekoosa Police Department and 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Port Edwards Police Department.
