AUBURNDALE – A student was hit by a truck in the afterschool hours of Oct. 19 at Auburndale High School.

At about 3:20 p.m., the Wood County Sheriff’s office, Auburndale First Responders, and Marshfield Fire & Rescue were called to the school for the report of a student that was struck by a truck.

During the investigation, it was learned that a 16-year-old male jumped onto the brush guard of his friend’s truck and slipped off as the truck began to pull out of the parking stall. The 17-year-old male driver ultimately ran over the 16-year-old male, as a result.

Marshfield Fire & Rescue transported the 16-year-old to Marshfield Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. No names have been released.
