WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Three witnesses testified Oct. 9 in the sexual assault trial of a former Marshfield school bus driver.

A plea deal was reached for 53-year-old Herbert Andres, replacing his felony of sexual assault of a child by someone who works or volunteers with children, to two misdemeanors of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and disorderly conduct.

Andres was accused of making sexual advances on a 17-year-old girl during a New Year’s Eve party at his house. He pleaded no contest to both misdemeanors and was sentenced to two years’ probation, which includes 30 days in jail.

A criminal complaint said police were told Andres hosted parties at his house and provided alcohol to underage students, including New Year’s Eve. One teen told investigators Andres was being “touchy,” grabbed her inappropriately, and tried to kiss her at the party. Andres acknowledged to investigators he had a New Year’s Eve party, but said he did not provide minors with alcohol.

Andres has 60 days to report to jail.
