Robert “Bob” G. Franz, Sr., 82, Stratford, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 3, 2018.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Community Bible Church in Stratford with Pastor Bill Nesbitt officiating. Burial will take place in Fenwood Cemetery. The visitation will be from 9:30 am until service time at the church. Sauter/Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Bob was born on October 2, 1936 in Milwaukee to Albert and Rose (Eckert) Franz. He graduated from high school in Downers Grove, Illinois and later continued his education in the field of telecommunications.

He was united in marriage to Margaret “Margie” E. Berthold on August 1, 1955 at Temple in the Sky in Chicago, IL. They were blessed with 58 years of marriage, before she passed away on July 28, 2014.

Bob worked his entire career in telecommunication services, and he was also a passionate farmer.

He was dedicated to Awanas and Christian education, enjoyed helping at church whenever he could, and was generous to a fault. Bob was an avid reader and collector of books. He also loved farming, technology, robotics, automation, gardening, playing the piano, and listening to classical music.

Bob is survived by his children Robert (Shirley) Franz, Jr. of Gillette, WY, Steven (Connie) Franz of Darlington, Mark (Theresa) Franz of Appleton, Patricia Allvin of Yuma, AZ, Timothy (Maureen) Franz of Lebanon, TN, Carol Franz (LaDell Sattler) of Edgar and Daniel (Michelle) Franz of Granby, CO; 26 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. He is further survived by his siblings, Russell (Elaine) Franz, Rosemary Ferguson, and Jan (Don) Burris.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, wife, Margaret, daughter, Barbara Stack, and granddaughter, Melissa Heim.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob’s name toward the youth Christian education program at Community Bible Church in Stratford.
