John Vincent Koran

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, 1010 East Veterans Parkway, Marshfield. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday, October 4, 2018 and again from 10:00 am Friday until the time of the service all at the funeral home. At 7:00 pm Thursday an Elk’s Lodge of Sorrow service will be held.
John was born in Black River Falls to Louis and Kathryn Koran on March 11, 1936. He married Geraldine Kay Schmidt on July 20, 1965 in Minneapolis, MN. He graduated from Colby High School and entered the Navy on August 3, 1954 and served through August 2, 1962.
After living in Los Angeles, he returned home to Wisconsin settling in Marshfield. He started Airway Bar, a successful club that featured national touring acts. He owned several other bars and was co-owner, with Paul Rogers, of Rogers Cinema.
John is preceded in death by his wife Geraldine, his daughter Karrie, son Mark, his brother Louis and his parents Louis and Kathryn.
John is survived by his sons, Rick (Patti), John David (Jill) and Scott (Jennifer), his sister, Esther Cruz, his grandchildren; Gina Morrell, Mario Koran, McKensey Koran, Brandon Koran, Emilie Koran, Payton Koran, Kayla Koran, Ethan Koran and Chase Koran, his great grandchildren; Coden and Sophia Morrell and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Memorials may be given in John’s name to the American Red Cross.
John’s sons and their wives would like to extend their sincerest thanks to John’s sister-in-law Betty Fellenz and his sister Esther Cruz for their dedicated care of John in his last days, allowing him to come home and spend time with his family and friends.
