Public invited to free screening of suicide documentary

MARSHFIELD – The public is invited to a Marshfield Area Parent Network screening of “Suicide-The Ripple Effect.” This film focuses on the devastating effects of suicide and the positive ripple effects of advocacy, inspiration, and hope that are helping millions of people heal and stay alive.
The film highlights Kevin Hines’ journey, who at age 19 attempted to take his life by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge. This film is appropriate for attendees 10 years of age and older.
The event will take place Sept. 13, at Froehlke Auditorium in the Laird Center for Medical Research 701 W. Kalsched St., Marshfield. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; film starts 7 p.m. and lasts approximately one and a half hours.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, Wisconsin has one of the highest youth suicide rates in the nation. World Suicide Prevention Day is Sept. 10.
