David R. “Rutz” Dillinger

David R. “Rutz” Dillinger, 73, Auburndale, died on Saturday, August 4, 2018 in the emergency room of Marshfield Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Sauter / Rembs Funeral Home, Stratford, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 am on Thursday until service time. Millitary rites will be conducted following the service at the funeral home by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6352 of Stratford.

David was born on January 17, 1945 in the Town of Milladore to Charles and Mary (Steckler) Dillinger and was a 1963 graduate of Auburndale High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam War serving from May 25, 1967 until his honorable discharge on May 24, 1969. He married Sandra K. Behringer on January 17, 1970 at St. Kilian’s Catholic Church, Blenker.

In his early years, David had been employed at Stratford Homes. He then farmed in the Town of Milladore for 35 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry, camping with his grandsons and scratch offs.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy and their children, Troy (Michelle) Dillinger, Timothy Dillinger, Nicole Dillinger, all of Stratford and Angela (fiancé – Jim Kusiak) Dillinger of Mosinee. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, a brother, Ervin Dillinger of Stratford and a sister, Clara Kaus of Auburndale.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Inez and Frances and a brother Leonard.
