MARSHFIELD — Marshfield’s Trevor Schwecke is currently batting .303 for the Madison Mallards of the Northwoods Baseball League. Schwecke is having an all-star summer, and did participate in the Northwoods League All-Star game July 24 in Kalamazoo, MI. Schwecke did play a role in the South Division’s win over the North Division squad. The South Division won the game 2-1. Trevor scored the first run of the game on a double by his Madison teammate Jake Randa. Schwecke went 1-for-3 with a walk, a strikeout and a run scored. Trevor also participated in the All-Star Home Run Derby.
As the regular season resumed following the All-Star break, Trevor delivered the game-winning hit in an 8-7 win over Rockford July 26. The UW-Milwaukee standout drilled a bases-clearing triple in the eighth inning to give the Mallards the lead for good in what was a back-and-forth game.
The next night — July 27 — the Mallards lost to Rockford 7-2. Trevor went 1-for-3 in that game, with a walk and two strikeouts.
Last Saturday, Madison lost at home to Kalamazoo 5-3. Schwecke went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts.
The Mallards rebounded on Sunday, and beat Kalamazoo 6-3. Trevor led the team in hits with three, and also walked, drove in a run and scored a run.
Schwecke had 59 hits as of July 29. That total included 10 doubles, a triple and five home runs. Trevor also had 26 RBI’s, 21 walks, 43 strikeouts, 39 runs scored and 17 stolen bases.
Trevor is a sophomore with the UW-Milwaukee Panthers’ baseball program.
