Marshfield to host state square and round dance convention

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield will welcome hundreds of visitors, as it hosts the 59th annual Wisconsin Square and Round Dance Convention.
The convention will be held Aug. 10-12 at Marshfield High School. The annual event regularly attracts over 600 dancers.
On Aug. 10, the convention will host an Introduction to Square Dancing class at 5:30 p.m. with caller Amanda Herdt, followed by Introduction to Contra Dancing at 6 p.m. with Pat Kelm and Dennis Wiggens.
On Aug. 11, an Introduction to Line Dancing class will be held at 2 p.m. in the school Commons area, with an Introduction to Square Dancing at 3 p.m. with caller Butch Danielski and Introduction to Round Dancing at 4 p.m. with Kathy Nickel.
On the final day of the convention, an Introduction to Square Dancing session with caller Eric Tangman will be held at approximately 10:20 a.m., following an Inspiration Hour with the Siegmann Family.
These opportunities are open to local residents interested in learning dance and spectators are welcome.
The convention is packed with educational sessions, meet and greet sessions, workshops, and some hex dancing, progressive squares, and heritage dance sessions.
