MARSHFIELD — A very young Marshfield American Junior Legion baseball team ended its state tournament run without a win at the Wisconsin Junior Legion state tournament at Memorial Park in Plover July 21-23.

The Blue Demons lost their first game on July 21 to Manitowoc, 2-1. Manitowoc scored twice in the bottom of the first inning, but was then held scoreless by Marshfield the rest of the game. The Blue Demons scored their only run of the game in the fifth inning on an RBI by Logan Griesbach. He and Nick Urban had hits for the team. Mason Pavloski pitched well for Marshfield, giving up three hits in five innings while walking two and striking out three.

Marshfield then lost to Oshkosh 11-1 on July 22. Oshkosh jumped out to a 5-0 lead before Marshfield scored its only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. Oshkosh then tacked on five runs in the sixth inning, and one more in the seventh. The Blue Demons were led by Devin Palmer and Nick Urban with two hits a piece. Max Heller and Parker Weik each had one hit as well. Marshfield had 13 of its players that were 15 years old or younger playing at the 17-U tourney. The Blue Demons finished their season 21-16 overall, and 9-5 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference, under first-year head coach Bill Urban.
