Campus Players to present summer play
For Hub City Times
MARSHFIELD – The Campus Community Players will present “Standing On Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays” July 25-28 at 7:30 p.m. and July 29 at 2:00 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre at UW-Marshfield/Wood County.
Award-winning playwrights Mo Gaffney, Jordan Harrison, Moisés Kaufman, Wendy MacLeod, José Rivera, Paul Rudnick, and Doug Wright offer unique takes on the moments before, during, and after “I do,” exploring marriage from a perspective of people formerly denied this tradition in a witty, warm, courageous, and humorous fashion. These short plays are vows to the blessings of equality, the universal challenges of relationships, and the often hilarious power of love.
“Thematically the collection reveals that marriage is not gay or straight – it’s human – and it’s full of joy, stress, fear, compromise, expectations, and mostly love,” said Roxie Wetterau, the play’s director. The work will be presented in a staged reading format by seven seasoned actors: Joe Anderson, Brian Clark, Joelle Clark, Pierce Ducsay, Jill Kupfer, Tori Nutting, and Samantha Yocius.
Tickets can be purchased online at purplepass.com/uwmarshfield, by phone at 715-389-6534, or in person at the box office two hours prior to each performance.
