Merlyn “Sam” Wesenberg, age 77, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife and children, on June 29, 2018 at Marshfield Medical Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Bakerville, with Rev. James Logan and Deacon Ray Draeger officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. The visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00pm on Monday at Rembs Funeral Home and from 9:30 am until service time on Tuesday at Corpus Christi Church.

Merlyn was born on November 18, 1940. Sam married Connie Weinfurtner in 1959. He worked at various jobs, retiring from Marshfield Door Systems several years ago.  He was a sports fan his entire life, but primarily loved baseball. He was an avid softball player most of his life. The Chicago Cubs was the team he always rooted for, and as Harry Caray said, “As sure as God made green apples, the Chicago Cubs are going to be in the World Series.” This happened in 2016 and Sam was able to attend one of the World Series games at Wrigley Field, and finally see his team win the pennant. In his free time Sam enjoyed visiting with his friends and going fishing.

Sam is survived by his wife Connie, and three children, Randy (Pat) Wesenberg of Stevens Point, Tina (Mike) Pasciak of Milton, and Becky (Bill) Short of Granton. He also has eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a sister, Rose Wesenberg, and brother, Dale Wesenberg.

He was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Elberta (Kiddoo) Wesenberg, nephew, Scott Wesenberg, and grandson, Christopher Wesenberg.
