MARSHFIELD — Two more wins June 20 and 21 means the Marshfield American Legion Post 54 baseball team recovered from a 0-4 start to run a winning streak to six, going into competition for the final week of June.

Riley Boushack had a pair of hits and Stratford’s Eli Drexler also had two hits. Neillsville’s Logan Matson doubled and Greenwood’s Devin Toburen had a hit as well. The Blue Devils scored two runs in the sixth inning of that game to pull away and win by three.

Connor Jasurda got the win in relief of Mason Coffren. Jasurda walked two and struck out seven in four innings of relief. Marshfield outhit D.C. Everest 10-5.

The Blue Devils then ran their win streak to six on June 21 with a win over Antigo. Marshfield won the game 3-2 in the bottom of the tenth inning. Post 54 took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Antigo tied the game in the third. Marshfield went ahead in the fourth, but Antigo came right back with another run in the fifth. Four-and-a-half scoreless innings later, Marshfield scored a run in the 10th inning to get the win. Toburen scored on a sacrifice fly by Ben Gust.

Dakota Landphier got the win in relief. The Pittsville standout struck out three batters over 3-2/3 innings, after taking over for starter Jake Brueggen, who allowed two runs in 6-1/3 innings of work.

Gust, Toburen and Isiah Baierl each went 2-for-4 for Post 54. Marshfield also got hits from Drexler, Jasurda, Boushack, and Coffren.

The win gave Marshfield its sixth straight. The Blue Devils’ scheduled game with Merrill on June 18 was postponed because of rain.
