MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Civic Band will present its first regular concert of the 2018 season on June 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Columbia Park, Marshfield.

Barring inclement weather, weekly concerts will be held every Wednesday evening at Columbia Park from June 20-July 4 and from July 18-August 1.

The Wednesday, July 11 concert will be a special performance at the official ribbon cutting for the new downtown Wenzel Family Plaza; this performance will start at 6:30 p.m. at the new plaza stage.

Also this year, the band will perform for the first time at the Colby Cheese Days celebration on July 14 from 1-2:30 p.m.

The concert season concludes on Aug. 1 at Columbia Park with the annual Sousa band concert.

As 2018 marks the centenary of American army combat in World War One, the band will be performing musical selections from that era throughout the summer season. The current Civic Band has its roots in the 135th Medical Regiment Band of the 32nd “Red Arrow” Division which served in France in 1917-18.

St John’s Church will be selling pie and ice cream at the park concerts, and the traditional “Kiddie Parade” will continue.
