MARSHFIELD – Several area teams did very well at the Badger State Games youth baseball tournament held June 15-17 at the Steven J. Miller recreation area and Braem Park in Marshfield.

The 9U round robin-style tournament was won by Marshfield Sandlot. Wisconsin Rapids was second, and C-O-T Fire of Stratford took third place.

In the 11U competition, Chippewa Falls was first, followed by Wisconsin Rapids and Hallie. In the 13U division, Dodgeville was the winner, D.C. Everest was second and the Eau Claire A’s were third. The A’s, meanwhile, won the 15U bracket. Altoona was second, and the Nutz Deep II/Pride Baseball team comprised of Marshfield-area players was third. St. Paul Minnesota Recreation from St. Paul, MN, finished in fourth place.

In an early June 17 game, the Nutz Deep II/Pride Baseball team defeated the  East Twins Farmers of St. Paul, MN, 10-0. In that game, Colton Schillinger of Stratford pitched a perfect game with Hunter Korth as catcher.
