Area baseball and softball players receive all-conference honors

MARSHFIELD – Area baseball and softball players are being recognized with all-conference honors or honorable mentions for performance in the 2018 season.
Stratford and Auburndale are well-represented on the 2018 all-Marawood Conference South Division squad. Colton Wright and Cam Ertl of Auburndale and Eli Drexler of Stratford were unanimous first-team choices, as voted on by conference coaches. Mark Handrick of Stratford was a first-team selection as well.
Stratford also had a second-team selection, Junior Lance Heidmann. Auburndale landed two second-team picks. They are senior Cason Schmutzer and sophomore Cooper Weinfurter.
Garnering honorable mentions were Stratford players Matt Handrick and Dawson Moen, and Ryan Isaacson and Fletcher Raab of Auburndale.
Ethan Peters of Wisconsin Rapids Assumption was the Marawood Conference South Player of the Year.
In softball, the Apaches and Tigers had a total of seven all-conference selections or mentions.
Kiana Weiler and Paige Kolbeck of Stratford and Mackenzie Raab of Auburndale were named as first-team all-conference selections for the Marawood South Division.
Attracting a second-team all-conference selection was Hannah Bolder of Auburndale. Her teammates Teryn Lau and Maggie Willfahrt received honorable mentions, as did Courtney Kaiser and Mariah Zawislan of Stratford.
Kendall Schill of Wisconsin Rapids Assumption was the Player of the Year in the Marawood.
In the Eastern Cloverbelt, the Spencer Rockets carried their domination over to the all-conference selections as well. After their run to the Division 4 Sectional Finals, the Rockets grabbed six spots on the all-conference team. Tiffany Meinders, Lexi Baehr, and Sadie Mercier were named to the first team, Aryiah Schuh was a member of the second team, and Chailey Robinson and Paige Bauer were honorable mentions. The Rockets this season won their fourth consecutive Cloverbelt East championship.
Meanwhile, Brooke Neider of Marshfield Columbus was named to the second-team all-conference squad, and her teammate Maren Seefluth was an honorable mention.
Greenwood’s Kaylee Learman was the Player of the Year in the Eastern Cloverbelt Conference.
