CCCF awards scholarships to area students

NEILLSVILLE – The Clark County Community Foundation, Inc. (CCCF) has announced the winners of its 2018 Scholarship Programs. Six Clark County students have each been awarded a $300 Clark County Community Scholarship to be used for tuition or other post-secondary educational expenses this fall.
Now in its fourth year, the Community Scholarship Program was created to provide additional financial resources to eligible students living in Clark County and pursuing an education beyond high school. This year the Foundation received more than 40 applications representing 11 Clark County school districts.
The 2018 Community Scholarship recipients are: Ellie T. Knodle is a graduate of Neillsville High School and will be attending Montana State University and majoring in Conservation Biology/Pre-Med. Bailey Krause graduated from Colby High School and plans to attend UW-Oshkosh to major in Nursing with a Spanish minor. Paige C. Mertens is a graduate of Thorp High School and has enrolled in the Actuarial Science Program at UW-Platteville. Briana North is a Greenwood High School graduate who will be attending UW-Stout to study Early Childhood Education. Paetyn Lynn Schmitz graduated from Greenwood High School and has chosen UW-La Crosse to major in Exercise and Sports Science. Megan Simington, an Owen-Withee High School graduate, will be attending Northcentral Technical College/UW-Oshkosh to study Nursing.
In addition, the CCCF is pleased to announce the first recipient of the Harry & Esther King Memorial Scholarship. Created in 2017 by the children of Harry and Esther King, this scholarship honors the memory of their parents who were long-time Clark County farmers and strong advocates of the benefits of education. The scholarship of $250 is available to Neillsville High School graduates, preferably those going into the fields of agriculture or education. The first recipient of this scholarship is Jenna Byrne. Jenna will be attending UW-River Falls majoring in Agribusiness.
