Joan B. Yrios, 68, Marshfield, died on June 7, 2018 at Wells Nature View after a courageous battle with cancer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, June 13 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield. The Rev. Samuel Martin will officiate. Music will be provided by St. John’s Funeral Choir with Cindy Penker, organist. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 am until service time.

Mrs. Yrios was born on February 28, 1950 in Marshfield to Norbert and Adelaide (Henseler) Varsho. She was married to Edward Yrios on September 7, 1974 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.

Joan attended Our Lady of Peace Parochial School and graduated from Columbus High School in 1968. She received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology in 1972 from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point.

Following her education, she was employed at Norwood Health Center for 4 years. Joan later retired from Pick ‘N Save in 2014 after 36 years of employment with Karau’s, Copps and Roundy’s.

Joan was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Parish Council of Catholic Women.

She enjoyed volunteering, traveling (esp. casino trips), puzzles, reading and playing cards with her family. Her happiest moments were those spent with her daughter, Chris.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Chris Yrios of Stevens Point. She is also survived by her mother, Adelaide Varsho of Marshfield and brothers, Ralph (Maria) Varsho of Menomonie, Ronald (Julaine) Varsho of Marshfield and Paul (Nancy) Varsho of Menomonie. A brother-in-law, Bruce (Sally) Ackerman of Marshfield survives, as well as many nieces and nephews and their children.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Yrios, her father, Norbert Varsho, a sister, Judy Ackerman, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Waino (Bill) and Barbara Yrios.

The family wishes to thank everyone (esp. shy Jim) for making this last journey of Joan’s much easier
