James Oliver Rogers

James Oliver Rogers, age 86, of Marshfield passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 29th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:30am. Visitation will be held at Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield, on Monday, May 28th from 4:30 pm – 8:00 pm and prior to the service starting at 09:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marshfield. Interment will be held at a later date.

James was born on May 5, 1932 in the Town of Goodrich Taylor County WI, to the late Albert J. and Elsie M. (Greene) Rogers. After graduation from Medford High School in 1950 he worked at Allis-Chalmers in Milwaukee. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1952, and was honorably discharged in 1954. Upon return from military service, he continued to work at Allis-Chalmers and married Eileen Frances Kraemer in 1956. He then worked at Evinrude Motors Milwaukee.  In 1961 they moved to the Marshfield area and James started W&J Builders with his brother-in-law William Poehnelt. In 1971 he formed James O. Rogers Construction which he owned and operated until he retired in 1997. He enjoyed woodworking, built many beautiful homes in the area and created numerous pieces of cabinets and furniture.

He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marshfield. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin in northern WI, growing balsam Christmas trees, walking in the woods, hunting, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Eileen along with his 5 sons: Michael Rogers of Roscoe, IL; Donald (Marlene) Rogers of Marshfield, WI; Steven Rogers of Perkinstown, WI; Thomas (Ann) Rogers of Howards Grove, WI; and Daniel (Amy) Rogers of Marshfield WI. Four grandchildren: Rebecca (Nathaniel) Cox of Austin TX; Kristin Rogers of Madison WI; Madelyn and Levi Rogers of Marshfield WI. One great-grandchild: Oliver Cox of Austin TX.

He is further survived by siblings Lucy Rothamer, Patricia (Verlin) Bristol, Betty Thomas, Larry (Alice) Rogers, Carla (Edward) Smola, along with many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers Archie, Edward, Earl and George Rogers.  Sisters: Nora Davis, Nina Neumueller, Mary Poirier, Edna Carroll.

The family would like to thank Dr. Chady Leon and all of the staff in the Marshfield Clinic Oncology Department 3A, the Marshfield Medical Center Infusion Department 8 North, and Ministry Home Care for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or the Hope Lodge, both located in Marshfield WI.
