Harvey D. Smazal, 78, of Marshfield died on Friday, May 18, 2018.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield with Rev. Samuel Martin officiating. Cathy Heuer along with St. John’s Funeral Choir will provide the music. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time on Tuesday at St. John’s Catholic Church. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Harvey was born on August 20, 1939 in Auburndale to Nicholas and Christina (Palan) Smazal. He was united in marriage to Donna M. Arndt on September 26, 1959 at St. John’s Church and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2009 and 55th in September of 2014; she sadly passed December 8, 2014.

Harvey came to Marshfield in 1957 at the age of 18 and found employment at Marshfield Homes, Weyerhauser, and then he found work at Cloverdale cheese factory where he drove a milk truck for some time. He then worked at Rollohome and eventually found his way to St. John’s Church where he was janitor from 1973 to his retirement in 2001

Harvey is survived by his daughter Shari (finace, David Grassl) Smazal of Milladore and his sister Darlene Mesner.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Donna, two brothers in infancy, his brother Lawrence in 1939, his sisters Ruth Jadack, Bertha Merkes, Dorothy Bertram, and his brother Robert Smazal.

The family would like to thank the family of Jen & Jay Schober for caring for dad.

Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
