How sweet it is!: Hub City Ice Cream celebrates five years

MARSHFIELD – One of Marshfield’s sweetest businesses celebrated a milestone May 16, as owner Sandy Freeman says the day marked five years since they cut the ribbon on the Hub City Ice Cream Company.

“That first year, my husband and I, we talk about how we didn’t know how to serve the ice cream, how to scoop the ice cream, how to deal with the customer flux,” Freeman said. “The changes that we’ve made from the first year to now is definitely improved – trying to get the customers through faster – but as a small business, Dave and I have learned a lot over the years – some of the good things, some of the bad things with owning a business, the ups and downs – but, definitely, it has been very rewarding for us, but also for the community.”
Since the 2013 opening, when the business scooped its first serving of “Birthday Cake” ice cream, the business has grown into a Marshfield destination.
