Marshfield native takes first in Collegiate National Triathlon

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield native Sean Harrington took first place in the Collegiate National Triathlon in Tuscaloosa, AL.
The USA Triathlon Collegiate Club and High School National Championships took place April 27-28. Nearly 1,300 collegiate competitors from 120 collegiate clubs and more than 150 high school students registered to compete.
In the Olympic-distance collegiate club championships, Harrington won the men’s overall while running for the University of California (UC)-Santa Barbara. Harrington finished with a time of 1:33:58.
Sean is a 2007 graduate of Marshfield High School. He ran cross country and track for Marshfield, qualifying and competing at the state level. He was coached by Dan Akin and Jon Minor. Harrington is also a 2011 graduate of UW-La Crosse with majors in both physics and mathematics. He ran both cross country and track, and competed at least once in the national meet.
Sean is a 2018 graduate of UC-Santa Barbara with a degree in Materials. He has been competing in triathlons during his entire time in California.
