Bernard A. “Bernie” Schneider, 78, of rural Auburndale, was born “down home” on February 22, 1940, the youngest of 12 children. He left his earthly world on May 12, 2018, still living “down home”.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Hewitt, with his nephews, Rev. Alan Burkhardt and Deacon Ervin Burkhardt and Rev. Antony Arokiyam officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery, and serving as pallbearers will be nephews, Ken, Darrin, Mike, John and Paul Schneider, Jerry Wolf and Mark Lapinski.  The visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday at Rembs Funeral Home and from 9:30 am until service time on Wednesday at St. Michael’s Church.

It was a great honor knowing Bernie. He was a kind, humble and gentle man. He lived his life doing what he loved – farming. He had the utmost patience with animals and people. He farmed on the home place with his older brother, Art and after Art’s retirement, Bernie continued his farming tradition with his Godson Marty. Bernie was an avid bowler, loved the Packers and was always up for a game of sheepshead.

Bernie will be missed by his siblings and in-laws, Agnes and Clarence Stini, Anna Lapinski, Celia Wolf, Arthur Schneider, Leo Schneider, Elaine Schneider, Joanne Schneider, Virginia Johnson and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Mary (Ertl) Schneider and siblings, Aloys Schneider, Peter Schneider, Edmund Schneider, Mary Burkhardt, Joe Schneider and Norbert Schneider and in-laws, Lester Burkhardt, Lucille Schneider, Don Wolf and Chester Lapinski.

He will be greatly missed. “Go rest high on that mountain, your work on earth is done.” Vince Gill
