City staff seeks feedback on council meeting start time

MARSHFIELD – As Marshfield Common Council agendas get more extensive, with closed session items due to development agreements and other lengthy discussions, city staff members are looking to move these discussions earlier in the evening when deliberating on important business items.
“After some discussion, staff leaders and I believe that it might be time to consider moving up the start time of our regular council meetings to address this concern,” said City Administrator Steve Barg.
A quick canvas of neighboring communities reflects start times of 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 7 p.m.
At the April 24 council meeting, staff recommended moving up the start time for regular council meetings to 6 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. The council postponed voting on the matter to obtain feedback from the public.
Anyone with thoughts on this topic may contact City Administrator Steve Barg at 715-486-2003 or [email protected].
The matter is scheduled to be brought back to the council at the May 22 meeting.
