Spencer hosts girls and boys track

Collegiate track athletes compete in Augustana

MARSHFIELD – Spencer hosted a multi-team track meet April 20 at Ted Fritsch Field.

The girls’ meet was won by Auburndale with a team score of 147, while Greenwood was second with a score of 95. Spencer came in third at 93, and Athens was fourth at 64.5. Loyal was fifth with a score of 59.5. Pittsville finished in 10th place with a team score of 30.

Auburndale’s Amanda Momont won the triple jump.

Auburndale won the 400-and-800-meter relays with Paityn Hamus, Katelyn Trowbridge, Maddie Krings and Isabelle Hilber. The Apaches also won the 1,600-meter relay with Isabelle Jewell, Hamus, Kali Karl, and Hilber, along with the 3,200-meter relay with Taylor Stanton, Errika Zenner, Macie Schmeiser, and Karl.

Greenwood’s Kelly Neilsen won the 200 and the long jump, while her teammate Rose Schoenherr won the 400.

Spencer’s Hannah Zastrow won the 100 hurdles, the 300 hurdles, and the high jump.

Savannah Schley of Loyal won the 800 and the 1,600, while her teammate Ashley Prusinski won the discus.

Ana Klein of Pittsville captured first place in the pole vault.

The boys’ meet was won by Loyal with a team score of 171.5. Spencer was second at 112, followed by third-place McDonell at 90.5. Athens finished in fourth place at 73, Auburndale was fifth with a score of 65, and Pittsville was sixth at 48. Greenwood finished in ninth place with a team score of 26.

Loyal’s Tamerat Kubista won the 3,200, while Mason Malm was a triple winner, taking first in the 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, and high jump. Their teammate Mathew Nikolai won the pole vault.

The Loyal relay team of Nikolai, Jesse Buchanan, Parker Leffel, and Devin Witt won the 400- and 800- meter relays.

Spencer’s Logan Zschernitz won the shot put and the discus, while Aaron Pankratz won the 200 and 400, and the Rockets’ Collin Nieman won the 800.

Auburndale’s Carver Empey won the long jump, and Chris Snook of Pittsville took first place in the 100.

A number of central Wisconsin athletes competed April 20 at the Augustana of Illinois women’s track and field invitational held in Rock Island, IL.

Auburndale’s Sylviann Momont finished second overall in the women’s heptathlon for UW-Stevens Point.

Marshfield’s Sara Fuller finished 14th in the 800 for UW-Whitewater.

Spencer’s Jessica Burt finished 38th in the women’s’ shot put for UW-Platteville.
