Stratford eighth graders take fifth in state competition

MARSHFIELD – The Stratford Eighth Grade Boys Basketball team took fifth place out of 32 teams in Division 3 state competition, held April 14-15 at UW-Stevens Point and Stevens Point Area Senior High School.
Stratford took their first game, scoring a victory over Lomira 53-22, before beating Winneconne, 57-29, and Campbellsport, 58-43.
In the round of 16, Stratford trounced Evansville 75-59. In the round of eight, Stratford lost to Denmark, 55-49. Stratford then played Little Chute, securing fifth place, 44-37.
The 5-1 performance at the state tournament gave the team an overall record of 16-5.
