Tiger softball off to great start

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Tiger softball team got off to a great start this season, with games held the week of March 26 at the Disney World Sports Complex in Orlando, FL.

On March 27, the Tigers picked up a pair of wins against teams from Illinois and New Jersey.

In game one, Marshfield blasted Libertyville of Illinois, 12-2, in five innings. The Tigers scored seven runs in the first inning, one more in the second, another in the third, and three more in the fifth inning. The Tigers outhit Libertyville 15-6. Megan Donahue went 3-4, with two home runs and four RBIs. In addition, Donahue got the win as the starting pitcher. She recorded two strikeouts on her way to the victory.

Also at the plate, Emily Draeger went 3-4, with two RBIs and two runs scored. Brianna Jakobi went 2-3 with three RBIs; Jordan Pretsch went 2-3 with a run batted in; and Kate Konrardy, Jenna Jakobi, and Taylor Barwick had hits in the game.

In game two, the Tigers put a dozen runs on the board in the first inning and six more in the second; en route to an 18-0 win over Riverdale Country of New Jersey. Donahue again led the Tiger attack, going 3-3 with four RBIs and a home run. The Jakobis, Draeger, and Konrardy also had three hits for Marshfield.

Konrardy pitched one inning, striking out two. Barwick pitched the other two innings and struck out one while walking two.

Marshfield played Madison Memorial on March 28 and Chicago Whitney Young of Illinois on March 29. Results for those games were not provided.
