Douglas A. Klemp, 83, Plover, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Whispering Pines, Plover.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, March 16th at Martens/Rembs Funeral Home, Junction City, where a visitation will be from 1:00 pm until service time. Rev. Doug Schalow will officiate. Burial will take place at Union Cemetery, Milladore where military rites will be performed by the American Legion Post 468.

Douglas was born on August 15, 1934 in Hustiford, WI to Henry and Myrtle (Renalds) Klemp. He attended Auburndale High School before transferring to Rudolph High School where he graduated in 1954. After graduating high school, he entered into the United States Air Force. He later graduated from Columbus College in Ohio.

He was united in marriage to Marjorie E. Treadwell on August 18, 1958 in Newcomerstown, OH. They moved into Doug’s home farm in the town of Carson, Portage County. They later resided in Rice Lake, Weston, and Plover.

He had been employed at PreWay Fireplace, Abel’s, Figi’s, and Frank’s Hardware. He also designed the Donaldson building. He enjoyed taking each grandchild up north, on special fishing trips, and to the Mall of America. His hobbies included: fishing, oil and water coloring, photography, camping, and perennial flower gardening. He was a “jack of all trades.”

Douglas is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Roger) Herman of Menomonie and Kathy (Ted) Kiefer of Stevens Point and six grandchildren, Heather, Holly, Kyle, and Amethyst Herman, Tyler and Taylor Kiefer, and one grandson, Parker Martin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and great grandson, Logan Vanyo Herman.

The family wishes to thank Ministry Hospice and the staff at Whispering Pines for their excellent care.
