Letter to the Editor: Reader applauds McMillan watch dogs

Dear editor,
The headlines on page three of your Feb. 28 edition “Marathon County officials look into McMillan accounts” caught my eye. I applaud the two people named, and I sincerely hope that there are others involved. All residents of the township of McMillan should be grateful that a handful of residents care about the finances of the township.
The article brings the questions about the previous accounting procedures. Where did the money come from to open the three accounts and why didn’t the annual audit of these accounts in the year they were opened catch it? The money had to come from the budget. The town board has a fiduciary responsibility to all residents of the township, not just a few.
