SPENCER – Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR) and Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) have been entertaining and educating folks in the Badger State for decades. But how did these stations get off the ground and pave the way for other public broadcasting outlets, including NPR.
Find out when the Marathon County Public Library hosts “The History of Wisconsin Public Broadcasting” on March 15 from 6-7 p.m. at the Spencer Branch Library, 105 S. Park St., Spencer.
Rick Reyer, WPR’s regional manager, will provide an informative presentation on the history of public broadcasting in Wisconsin, including how the Wisconsin Idea helped influence the growth and expansion of both public radio and television, statewide and across the country.
The event is free and open to the public, with no registration required. For more information, call 715-659-3996 or visit https://mcpl.us/events/4051.
