Gross celebrates addition of Spencer store

SPENCER – Gross Motors held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Feb. 26 to mark the introduction of their Spencer facilities.
The Spencer dealership was purchased in 2017 in an effort to expand the brands Gross Motors offers.
“In order for us to sell Ford, you have to buy an existing franchise from someone else,” explained Mike Gross, who owns the company, along with his father, Wayne, and uncle, Jerry. “Ford has cut back the number of dealers quite a bit since 2008.
“A big part of why we ended up buying the Ford franchise from Brenda at Jensen’s is we are in what is called their ‘area of responsibility,’ so what happens when you buy the franchise is you buy that area. Neillsville is in the same area that she owned,” Gross said in an earlier interview.
With the purchase, Gross Motors was able to add the Ford brand to their current offerings of Buick, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram.
Gross Motors also owns dealerships in Black River Falls, Marshfield, and Neillsville.
Dylan Gross is general manager of the Spencer location.
