Learn about endangered species at MCPL Spencer Branch
SPENCER – Folks are invited to learn about threatened species both here in Wisconsin and around the nation during a free presentation on March 6 from 9-10 a.m. at the Marathon County Public Library’s (MCPL) Spencer Branch, 105 S. Park Ave., Spencer.
Pam Resech, wildlife educator with the George W. Mead Wildlife Area, will stop by the Spencer Branch to share information about various species threatened by extinction and other species with populations small enough to be considered endangered. She will also bring some pelts and other visuals to share.

Meet members of the Marathon County SWAT team
SPENCER – If you have ever wondered what it takes to become a SWAT team member, or the kind of things the team handles, you can find out during a free presentation on March 7 from 10:30-11 a.m. at Spencer High School, 300 N. School St., Spencer.
Members of the Marathon County SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) team will visit Spencer High School to discuss the kind of work they do and how a person might become a member of the SWAT team. A Q&A will follow the presentation.

Visit MCPL Wausau for cooking demonstration with TV host Inga Witscher
WAUSAU – Join the Marathon County Public Library for a demonstration of how to cook a popular Scandinavian dish with a Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) show host. MCPL will welcome cook and TV host, Inga Witscher on March 10 from 10 a.m. – noon at the library’s Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau.
Witscher, host of the WPT series “Around the Farm Table” will visit the library to show folks how to make smörgåstårta. Never heard of it? It is a savory dish that is a cross between a sandwich and a cake and can be prepared with ingredients like smoked fish, veggies, cream cheese, and fresh bread – perfect for parties, brunch, or holiday gatherings.
