MARSHFIELD – The Columbus Catholic boys basketball team has wrapped up a third-straight Eastern Cloverbelt Conference championship, and is headed to the postseason as a No. 1 seed.
The Dons defeated Loyal 75-54 on Feb. 16, to improve their conference record to 15-0. Noah Taylor led Columbus Catholic with a season-high 20 points, while Jarred Mandel added 15 points, and Nick Malovrh tossed in 14. The win gave the Dons their ninth victory in a row, and an overall record of 18-2.
Columbus will open up post-season play Feb. 27 by hosting No. 16 Tigerton in a Division V regional quarter-final at Columbus Catholic High School at 7 p.m.
The Dons could see Loyal for a third time on March 2, should the Greyhounds win their Feb. 27 playoff game versus Pittsville at Loyal High School.
