Valeria L. Hanson

Valeria L. Hanson, 90, Marshfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the Marshfield Medical Center.

Valeria was born on April 14, 1927 in Loyal, to Edwin and Clara (Litka) Bauer. She attended St. Anthony’s school in Loyal.  In 1936, the family moved to Bakerville where she continued her education through the 8th grade at St. Mary’s. She was united in marriage to Donald M. Hanson on August 22, 1945 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. They were married for 72 years.

Don and Val owned and operated their purebred Guernsey dairy farm located near Nasonville for over 50 years. The farm was given special recognition as a Wisconsin Century Farm. In addition, Val was employed at Woolworth’s in Marshfield for 15 years, served as treasurer for the Town of Rock, was a board member for Catholic Financial Life and worked in the entry office for the Central Wisconsin State Fair. She was also an active member of Corpus Christi Church and the Parish Council of Catholic Women.  She and Don enjoyed travels to Europe, Australia, Alaska and Hawaii as well as throughout the U.S. In addition, Val also enjoyed playing cards, bowling and spending time with her family.

Val is survived by her husband Don, and their children, Diane (Kenneth) Bonkoski of Neenah, Kenneth (Arlys) Hanson of Anoka, MN and Donna (Larry) Donoval of Sheboygan. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Bonkoski, Jeremy (fiancé – Maria Martin) Hanson, Alicia Hanson, Andrea (Charles) Obranovich and Eric (Lindsay) Donoval and 3 great-grandchildren, Nadia, Aidric and Reyna Obranovich. She is further survived by a sister, Eileen Weber, 3 sister-in-laws Alice, Nancy and Joyce Bauer of Marshfield and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, 3 brothers, Albert, Gerald and Donald Bauer, 2 sisters in infancy and a brother-in-law Peter Weber.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Bakerville, with Rev. Savarimuthu Selvalaj and Deacon Ray Draeger officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Friday, February 16 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home and also on Saturday, February 17 from 9:30 am until time of service at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated in Val’s name to Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
