Marshfield crushes East

Marshfield forced 25 turnovers and held Wausau East to just nine made field goals in a 58-26 victory on Feb. 9 at Marshfield High School.

The Tigers (9-11, 5-6 Wisconsin Valley Conference) ran out to a 34-13 lead by halftime and held East to just 13 points in the second half as well, on their way to the victory.

Hannah Meverden had 14 points, eight rebounds, and four assists to lead Marshfield.

The Tigers lost a nonconference game at home to Chippewa Falls 61-54 on Feb. 6. Meg Bryan made five 3-pointers and scored 21 points to top the Tigers. Meverden was 9 of 11 at the free throw line and added 15 points.

Marshfield wraps up its regular-season schedule Feb. 15 at home against Wausau West.

Stratford rips Chequamegon

Taya Nett scored 19 points in the second half as Stratford erupted to defeat Chequamegon 63-28 in a Marawood Conference crossover game Feb. 9 at home.

After a sluggish first half that saw the score tied at 14-14, Stratford blasted the Screaming Eagles, outscoring them 49-14 in the second half.

Nett hit three 3-pointers and scored 19 of her game-high 21 points in the second-half run for the Tigers (12-8, 11-4 Marawood South).

Stratford lost to first-place Marathon 61-56 in overtime on Feb. 6 at Marathon.

The Raiders outscored Stratford 9-4 in the extra period after the Tigers came back from a nine-point halftime deficit to force overtime. Kaylee Hollatz led Stratford with 18 points.

Columbus Catholic splits two

Loyal made 18 of 24 free throws in the second half to pull away and defeat Marshfield Columbus Catholic 62-49 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Feb. 9 at Columbus Catholic High School.

Columbus Catholic led by three at halftime before Loyal (9-11, 8-7 Cloverbelt East) pulled ahead by making 18 free throws in the second half. Remi Geiger scored all 19 points of her points in the second half, going 9 of 12 at the free throw line.

Addison Baierl had 15 points to lead the Dons (11-8, 8-7 Cloverbelt East) before fouling out late. Morgan Albrecht and Marissa Immerfall each added 14 points for Columbus.

The Dons edged Greenwood at home 42-39 on Feb. 6. Immerfall made 12 of 13 free throws and scored 20 points for Columbus.

Auburndale loses to Prentice

Auburndale was held to six points in the first half and could not recover as it dropped a Marawood Conference crossover game at home to Prentice 41-31 on Feb. 9.

Auburndale (12-8, 7-7 Marawood South) made just 8 of 40 shots from the field and missed nine of 22 free throws in the loss.

Hannah Bolder made all six of her free throw attempts and scored eight points to lead the Apaches.

Auburndale won at home against Edgar on Feb. 6, 56-31. Maggie Willfahrt had 12 points and Bolder added 10 in the win.

Spencer wraps up Cloverbelt East schedule

Colby wrapped up the Cloverbelt Conference East Division title with a 76-43 win over Spencer on Feb. 9 at Spencer High School.

The Hornets (18-2, 14-1 Cloverbelt East) rolled out to a 44-20 lead by halftime and held a double-digit lead the rest of the way.

Lexi Baehr had 21 points for Spencer (2-19, 1-15 Cloverbelt East).
