MARSHFIELD – Charges were filed Feb. 7 for a crash that resulted in the death of a 21-year-old Marshfield man.

Court records say that 23-year-old Taylor J. Owczynsky, Nekoosa, will be charged with two felony counts following an Aug. 5 crash that claimed the life of Marshfield native, Tyler Manthe.

According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 3:58 a.m. on Aug. 5, authorities responded to a two-vehicle crash in the area of State Highway 13 near Evergreen Avenue in the town of Saratoga. Investigators determined that a southbound vehicle, driven by Owczynsky, crossed over the center line, striking a northbound vehicle, driven by Manthe.

Manthe was airlifted to the Marshfield Medical Center with serious injuries. He was later pronounced dead.

Owczynsky is being charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and homicide by use of a vehicle with PAC, both Class D felonies.

She is scheduled for her initial appearance March 5 in Wood County Court.
