Reader supports Shulman for school board

Dear editor,

Nine years ago, we moved here for great jobs and excellent schools.

Since then, two things have become clear:
1. Yes, Marshfield schools are top-notch, but, 2. This quality is continually threatened by decreased funding, wavering support for teaching as a profession, and anti-education ideologies imported from outside this region.

The School Board is critical to maintaining long-held local priorities: academics, athletics, arts, and community.

As a family practice physician and medical director for St. Vincent de Paul free medical clinic, Karen Shulman understands how to serve the most vulnerable among us while maintaining excellence for all. The same balance is required in public education, as schools strive to challenge successful students without losing focus on children with unique circumstances.

Karen is an excellent listener; we must listen to teachers, as they know the needs of our kids, families, and facilities.

On April 3, please vote for Karen Shulman.
