MARSHFIELD – Marshfield Area Parent Network (MAPN) will host an event “Know Your Options: Refusing Medication and Alternative Therapies,” presented by Dr. Julie Tharp, parent UW-Marshfield/Wood County English professor, and Dr. Michael Larson, Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) clinical pain psychologist and director of Marshfield Clinic’s scheduled medication policy.

Join MCHS and Marshfield Area Coalition for Youth (MACY) in collaboration with Unified School District of Marshfield and Columbus Catholic Schools from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, at the Marshfield High School auditorium, 1401 E. Becker Road, Marshfield.

“Ana’s Path” is the story of a local parent trying to keep her OxyContin-addicted daughter alive and the lessons she has taken away from that experience. While there is no one solution for every family, learn from her story, hear a few suggestions and ponder how communities, state institutions, and health care can help. Dr. Larson will discuss ways you can advocate for your child in the doctor’s office, specific questions to ask and alternatives to pain management.

Enjoy a free meal provided by M & M Catering.

To register, contact JoAnna Giraud, Marshfield Clinic Health System Center for Community Outreach, at 715-221-8429 or [email protected], or register at:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MAPNRsvp02-26-18 by Wednesday, Feb. 21. Provide the first and last name of participant(s), and if requesting childcare, provide the age of children.

This event is brought to you in part through the generous support of the Marshfield Professional Police Association.
