Eleanore M. Nikolai

Eleanore M. Nikolai, 84, Marshfield, died on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Marshfield Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church, Marshfield, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 am on Saturday until service time. Rev. Laurie Davis will officiate, and burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery at a later date. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Eleanore was born on February 3, 1933 in Chicago, to Edward and Jenny (Imbierowicz) Podsiadlik. She married Ernest J. Nikolai on November 7, 1959 and they later divorced.

As a young lady Eleanore had been employed as a nursing assistant at various hospitals in Chicago. In 1969 she began working at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield for 26 years. She then provided private home care for various doctors in Marshfield and then worked for Aspirus Home Health Care until her retirement. She enjoyed crocheting and going to lunch with friends. She especially enjoyed her little dog Molly.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Therese Brooks of Marshfield and Bernard (Marla) Nikolai of Statesville, NC. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She is further survived by brothers, Harry (Barbara) Podsiadlik of Glendale, AZ, Richard (Mary) Podsiadlik of Marshfield and Tony Pods of Johannesburg, South Africa, a sister-in-law, Mary Podsiadlik and numerous extended family, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, her former husband, a sister Josephine DiFiore, 4 brothers Archie, Edward, Paul, & Frank Podsiadlik sisters-in-law, Rose and Mildred “Dolly” Podsiadlik, a son-in-law, Robert Brooks and a special friend, Beverly Brost.

Memorials may be designated in Eleanore’s name to the First Presbyterian Church, Marshfield.
