Letter to the Editor: DeSmogBlog Project exposes global warming misinformation

Dear editor,

A letter from the International Climate Science Coalition (ICSC) denying any link between global warming and severe storms appeared recently in the Hub City Times. A simple search of the Internet reveals that the ICSCs’s major source of funding is the Heartland Institute. In turn, the Heartland Institute is funded by Big Oil, Big Coal, and such miscellaneous fat cats as the Koch Brothers.

Both the Heritage Institute and the ICSC are financed by those near-sighted folks who want to convince us that global warming, fiercer storms, wholesale extinctions, desertification, and smog are good for us.

The DeSmogBlog Project (desmogblog.com,) a highly regarded organization that exposes global warming misinformation campaigns, denounces the ICSC for producing little “credible” science while spending most of its time and money spreading propaganda favoring the energy industry.

DeSmogBlog’s research has traced the officers and senior staffs of both the Heartland Institute and the ICSC to former positions in the energy industry—positions to which they often return following sojourns with one of the “foundations.”
