MARSHFIELD – A presentation was made Jan.5 at the Marshfield High School (MHS) Boson Fieldhouse in honor of Tyler Manthe, a 2014 Marshfield graduate whose life was claimed Aug. 5, in a tragic car accident.
Manthe was six-year member of the Marshfield wrestling program, a sport that Manthe’s mother, Gidget, said became his passion.
Between the JV and Varsity wrestling matches held Jan. 5, Gidget and her husband, Cory Tobin, presented the wrestling club with a $600 donation to be used for needed equipment, as well as a memorial plaque to be placed in the wrestling practice room.
The dedication made by Tyler’s family, also included a $500 scholarship for a high school senior who participates in wrestling, to be used at the higher education institution of their choice.
Interested seniors may apply for the scholarship by contacting Marshfield High School Athletic Director Nathan DeLany at 715-387-8464.
