Elizabeth C. “Betty” Baltus

Elizabeth C. “Betty” Baltus, 93, Auburndale, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at House of the Dove, Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 5, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Auburndale, where the visitation will be from 9:00 am on Friday until service time. Rev. Antony Arokiyam will officiate. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be granddaughters, Pam McNamara, Rebecca Bredl, Michelle Nikolay, Cheri Dimick, Tracey Palen, Amy Krings, and Taylor Baltus and the remaining grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Betty was born on January 11, 1924 in Auburndale, to Fred and Kathryn (Scholler) Aschenbrenner. She attended St. Mary’s Parochial School, Auburndale, and was a 1943 graduate of Auburndale High School.
She was united in marriage to Arsenius H. “Seni” Baltus on October 23, 1943 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Auburndale. He passed on April 8, 2005.
Betty and Seni farmed in Auburndale until his retirement. Betty had also been employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital for 28 years until her retirement. She then worked at Figi’s in Marshfield for 15 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Christian Mother’s Society. Betty had a love for sewing, embroidery, quilting, and baking. In later years she enjoyed watching game shows, the Packers and Badgers and reading. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the center of her life.
She is survived by her children, Stephen (Judie) Baltus of Pinehurst, NC, David Baltus of Auburndale, Gloria Matticks of Auburndale, Michael (Sally) Baltus of Milladore, Cynthia (Ted) Drescher of Spencer, Marcia (Clarion) Kolbeck of Auburndale and Mark (Brenda) Baltus of Wisconsin Rapids. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother, Dick (Cathy) Aschenbrenner of Phillips and a sister, Shirley Lindow of Longmont, Colorado.
She was predeceased by her parents, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Martha Baltus, her husband, son-in-law, Mike Binder, daughter-in-law, Sharon Baltus, brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Colleen Aschenbrenner Jr., and brother-in-law, Ken Lindow.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the caregivers at House of the Dove and to Melanie of Deerview Meadows Assisted Living.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated in her name to House of the Dove or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
