Marshfield man crashes into police vehicle

MARSHFIELD – A Marshfield man is in custody after crashing his SUV into a police cruiser Dec. 26.
The incident occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. on the 1800 block of East Emerald Street in Marshfield.
According to Marshfield police, the 50-year-old man was distraught, suicidal, and in his vehicle when officers approached. He then backed his car into a squad car and fled the scene.
Police pursued the suspect, who was apprehended after crashing his vehicle a few blocks away. The man was taken into custody and is facing charges of operating while intoxicated, fleeing an officer, recklessly endangering safety, and resisting arrest.
He was taken first to the Marshfield Medical Center and then transported to the Wood County Jail.
