Stratford improves to 7-0

Vaughn Breit scored 22 points to help Stratford in its seventh-straight win to start the season, as the Tigers beat Prentice 62-40 in a nonconference game Dec. 14 at Stratford High School.

Benjamin Barten added 12 points, and Barten and Breit each had seven rebounds in the victory for the Tigers.

Stratford pulled out to a double-digit lead by halftime, holding a 29-19 advantage, and built its lead from there.

Okley Wrensch chipped in seven points, five steals, and three assists for the Tigers.

Marshfield rolls past Rapids

Marshfield outscored Wisconsin Rapids 32-8 in the first half, and cruised to a 55-32 victory, in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game Dec. 15 at Lincoln High School.

Seth Anderson scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds, and Brant Bohman made three 3-pointers and added 13 points for the Tigers, who are now 3-4 and 1-1 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

Marshfield made 7 of 17 3-pointers and 10 of 12 free throws in the victory.

The Tigers lost their Wisconsin Valley Conference opener at Stevens Point 77-70 on Dec. 12.

Marshfield made 10 3-pointers in the loss, with Anderson leading the way with 29 points and four 3-pointers. Drew Blair scored 40 points for Stevens Point.

Columbus extends win streak to six

Columbus Catholic took control early, opening up a 24-point lead by halftime, on its way to a 62-45 victory over Owen-Withee on Dec. 15 at Columbus Catholic High School.

The Dons (6-1, 4-0 Cloverbelt Conference East Division) opened up a 41-17 lead by halftime and went on to their sixth-straight win.

Nick Malovrh had 20 points, and Jarred Mandel and Noah Taylor each added 12 points, for Columbus Catholic.

Columbus knocked off Auburndale 67-49 in a nonconference game Dec. 12.

The Dons began the game on a 19-4 run and led 40-18 at halftime.

Malovrh finished with 25 points, and Mandel added 20, for Columbus. Cale Jacoby led Auburndale with 14 points.

Auburndale knocks off Abbotsford

Auburndale led 37-16 at halftime, on its way to a 75-34 victory over Abbotsford on Dec. 15.

Ten different Apaches scored in the win. Jacoby had 17 points and 10 rebounds, Cooper Weinfurter had 14 points and seven steals, and Cameron Ertl chipped in 13 points and eight rebounds for Auburndale (6-2).

Spencer tops Gilman

Spencer shot 45 percent overall and hit 6 of 11 from 3-point range, in a 60-45 victory over Gilman in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Dec. 12 at Gilman High School.

Jack Bezlyk scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and Collin Nieman had 17 points, making three 3-pointers, in the win for Spencer (3-2, 2-2 Cloverbelt East).
