WISCONSIN RAPIDS – On Nov. 26, Marshfield police were called to a South Central Avenue, Marshfield apartment. The female resident there told officers that the previous day she had gotten into an argument with her live-in boyfriend.

According to court records, the woman stated that the boyfriend, identified as Phillip D. Oney, 47, struck her in the face three times with a closed fist, held her down on the bed and choked her, and threatened her life.

Oney then grabbed the woman’s ankle, pulled her from the bed, dragged her out of the apartment, and locked her outside.

The criminal complaint states that the day of the call, Oney hit the woman again with a closed fist, a total of six times, and threatened her life a second time.

Oney is being charged in Wood County Court with a class H felony count of strangulation and suffocation, domestic abuse; a class I felony count of stalking, domestic abuse; two counts of misdemeanor battery, and one count of disorderly conduct.

A class I felony could result in $10,000 in fines and/or six years imprisonment. The class H felony comes with up to $10,000 in fines and/or three years and six months imprisonment, if convicted.
